The Story of Magic
A Lecture by Christopher Taylor
2 – 4 hours
In this lecture Christopher will draw upon his experience as a classroom teacher, professional story teller, and performing mentalist to illustrate how traditional storytelling techniques can be incorporated into mentalism or bizarre routines to powerful effect.
In addition to teaching personal favorite mentalism routines, Christopher will focus on teaching storytelling principles that can be used to enhance the emotional and magical connection between the performer and the audience in any performance. Attendees will learn how to create, develop, and perform story driven magic, and walk away with practical steps for incorporating powerful storytelling traditions into their own magic. Christopher will also include his uniquely theatrical approach to metal bending, including routines and techniques for key, coin and spoon bends.
Finally, Christopher will discuss his criteria for when, why, and how to use electronics to support a performer. This discussion will include up close and hands on demonstrations of some of Taylor Imagineering’s most popular products, which will be available at a significant discount.

Who is Christopher Taylor?
Creator and innovator, many of the world’s greatest mentalists and magicians have used Christopher’s handiwork to achieve astonishing and impossible feats. Yet while Christopher is best known as a pioneer in electronic mentalism, he has consistently returned to his “no-tech” roots during his 30 year performing and creating career resulting in a large body of outstanding material.
An experienced lecturer, Christopher has completed two highly successful lectures tours throughout Europe as well as Australia and the USA, including twice at Tannens in New York, Las Vegas and for both Penguin and Murphy’s Magic.
Beyond magic, Christopher has enjoyed careers as a prison guard, classroom teacher, professional photographer, naturalist, and children’s author and, in his youth, a highly competitive martial artist. He has practiced and taught Kung Fu for over 50 years, which remains a major source of inspiration for his mentalism routines. Christopher lives in British Columbia, Canada with his wife Sonja and three very excitable dogs.
